Allergy Bomb Roller Ball Recipe

Allergy Bomb Essential Oil Roller Ball Recipe

I love this essential oil allergy bomb roller ball recipe!

Especially because my allergies are OUT OF CONTROL right now. Anyone else struggling? I used my Young Living Oils to make this allergy bomb roller ball recipe – and I’ve been using it every day!

Most importantly, the peppermint helps open up my nasal passages. And the lavender is so soothing…just the first whiff of lavender can relax me more than anything else! Perfect for when I’m trying to reset my day or change my mindset quickly!

I actually roll a little of the oil combo on my finger and rub it inside my nose when I can’t breathe at all. Then I roll some on my forehead, over the bridge of my nose, temples, pretty much everywhere. Can I bathe in it, too?

15 drops each of essential Lavender, Lemon, and Peppermint Oil
Carrier oil

Carefully drop your oils in your roller ball. Then fill the rest of the way with a carrier oil of your choice – I used grapeseed oil, but fractionated coconut oil is a winner too.

Here’s to sneeze free days!

PS: Did you know that our books are on sale on Amazon right now!? I’m not sure how long Amazon will keep this discount up, so head on over and scoop up your copies! They make sweet gifts, too! Especially for your mama friends who need a little extra boost right now – and which one of us doesn’t!

The Secret To Having a Great Day!

August 30, 2018

The Secret To Having A Great Day Morning Routine

*Original post on Southbay Mommies and Daddies Website

Do you ever feel like there is just no time? No time to get any one thing done. No time for yourself. No time for your friends. No time for your passion project.

I read once that the prolific author Nora Roberts started writing for the first time during a snowstorm while she was a SAHM and her kids were housebound. Writing became her outlet. I love that story. But now that I’m a SAHM, I seriously do not get how she did it! How, Nora, how did you manage to write your novels with your crazy kids running around needing snacks and drinks and snacks and games and snacks and help and snacks!? And also with a household to run. And a husband to talk to. And friends to text a waving hand emoji to every now and then because there is just NO time for a longer conversation?

It really feels like there’s no time during the summer months when your beautiful, well behaved children are out of school. Those once too brief few hours while the kiddos were gone now seem like glorious eons of freedom that you would gladly give your right arm for. (Ok, maybe your right leg because your right arm is too busy making snacks.)

Well enough! We must take back control. And while I concede that during this time in our lives there are so many things that are out of our control (hello early wake ups, sick kiddos, and cranky husbands), I will fight for the few things we can control. And that starts with creating your Morning Routine.

By religiously sticking to my morning routine, I set myself up to have a great day where I know I’ve accomplished at least one thing that is just for me.

A morning routine gives you structure and a feeling of control over an already chaotic day. Start creating your routine now, during these last few weeks of summer, so that when fall comes and school blessedly starts again, you’ll be ready to stick with it. You’ll be committed to it. You’ll realize how important it is for your sanity, for your creativity, and for your ability to face the day with a smile and a positive attitude.

Are you ready for your new morning routine!? Here we go, mama…

Step 1: Get up 30 – 60 Minutes Before Your Kiddos.
I know, I know. Yeah. Right. But seriously…just try it! We are almost always too tired after the kids go to bed to do anything that is just for us at night. And TV is a way too attractive offer – curse you, Big Brother! Morning is the most productive time of day to take time for you.

Step 2: Hydrate.
Drink a glass of water before you do anything else. Keep it on your nightstand, and suck it down before you even get out of bed. Cleanse yourself from the first moment of the day. Every mentor I’ve had says to drink half your body weight in ounces of water, and these people are super successful. We should listen to them 🙂 Water is the elixir of life, and it makes you feel so refreshed right as you wake up.

Step 3: Read your Daily Soul Session.
The Daily Soul Sessions For Every Mama book is a daily inspirational that only takes 3 minutes to read each morning. Read it every day to get your thoughts moving in the direction you want them to continue – positive, happy, present, and mindful. Mindfulness is a muscle. We have to work on it consistently to really see changes in our lives. If you’re expecting a baby, read The Daily Soul Sessions For The Pregnant Mama!

Step 4: “You” Time.
Now spend the rest of your blessed quiet time doing something just for you. Journal, meditate, sit on your porch with a cup of coffee, goal-set, read, stretch. Do whatever it is that fuels your inner pilot light and clears out the cobwebs in your brain. This makes room for creativity, positivity, and endless possibility. But absolutely no laundry, dishes, or cleaning allowed, lady. This about you and your inner sense of happiness. This is about feeling like you have accomplished something that is only for you – not for mom, not for wife, not for friend, not for daughter. For YOU.

The Daily Soul Sessions tribe consists of 3 sisters – Kate, Kacey, and Kara Coppola. Southbay Mommies and Daddies: How To Turn Your Day Around In 5 Minutes Or Less!

July 25, 2018

Turn Your Day Around In 5 Minutes

(This article is a repost from Southbay Mommies and Daddies website! We are now contributors to their website – head on over to check it out! If you’re local to the Southbay, they have a lot of great info on activities, local events, and more!)

You know that feeling. That sinking, ball of lead in the pit of your stomach, suddenly so exhausted feeling that you can hardly keep your eyes open. Maybe it was some bad news. Or maybe another mom at school drop-off made you feel not good enough. Maybe you’ve been refereeing your kids since 6 am and you have just HAD it. Maybe a simple “what do you want for dinner” conversation with the hubby turned into a code red, “do you ever listen to me?” fight.

Ugh. Isn’t it amazing how a day can turn bad quicker than your toddler can decide they suddenly hate pizza (whaaaaat? Who hates pizza?! My kid. That’s who.)

And that just ain’t right.

We work too hard and have too many positive intentions to let a day go to waste with negativity or depression or simple boredom. The truth is, we feel negative emotions much stronger than we feel positive emotions, so we have to fight back, sisters! We can’t let the sad win! We have to prepare for these moments like Wonder Woman prepares to take down the god Ares. With a killer set of over the knee boots and some hair that makes Rapunzel jealous, obvi. What we need is an arsenal of positivity at our fingertips.

We’ve got your back, mama. Here are 7 ways to turn your day around in 5 minutes or less.

1.) Keep an uplifting book on your kitchen counter. Whenever you feel the heaviness creep in, stop whatever you are doing. Pick up that book and read a few pages. Let the words give you a swift mental kick in the booty, and feel it change your thought process immediately. The inspiring words of self-love, gratitude, and determination will fill you up again. Need some book inspiration? Our latest favorites are on our highlighted Insta Story entitled “Books”.

2.) Create a positive vibes only Pinterest Board and title it “Inspiration”. Collect images with all the things that inspire you to be the best woman you can be. Where do you want to travel? Find images of that. What quotes make you feel strong and empowered? Find pictures of that. Don’t pin anything that leaves you feeling wanting, only allow those images that make you feel strong, sexy, determined, and happy. Then scroll through that board when you need a sweet ‘lil cheerleader on your shoulder. Check out our “Inspiration” board to get started.

3.) Download inspiring songs that never fail to make you dance or make you smile.Make sure they are on your phone, and turn one on whenever you need a pick me up. Start with “Kinder” by Copper Wimin. Or simply turn on a Pandora or Spotify station that will keep an ongoing stream of inspiring music playing. No one ever had a bad day belting out the entire Wicked soundtrack from beginning to end. Trust me on this one.

4.) Make an “Affirmation” page in the notes on your phone. Write down your personal mission statement as a woman, your reasons WHY you want the life you want, and some simple positive phrases that remind you to choose joy. Then when you’re feeling blue, read through these affirmations and pick one that resonates with you at the moment. Repeat it to yourself over and over until you begin to feel lighter.

5.) Breathe! Set your timer for 3 minutes and close your eyes. Start to deepen your breath. On the inhale, think the sound “sat” (rhymes with not). On the exhale, think the sound “nam” (rhymes with mom – fitting!). Sat nam means “truth” or “truth is my identity.” Keep saying this phrase, coinciding with your inhale and exhale until your timer goes off.

6.) Drop down and do a few vinyasas. This exercise is even better if you are in the middle of Target and your child is screaming for yet another Paw Patrol Pup. The looks alone from other people as you are in Down Dog will be satisfying enough.

7.) Do not, I repeat, do NOT get on any social media until the crisis has passed. I’m serious. Just say no to the Insta and the FB and the Snapchat and the Twitter in your life. When you are struggling with something, it is not the time to go into other people’s worlds of photo shopped perfection. This is a time to work on you. Alone. It is the time to focus on your goals, your gifts, and your authenticity. To remember why you love yourself and your life. To heal whatever is aching and just take a break from all the noise and distraction around you.

Ah…feels better already, am I right? You CAN do this. You have the ability to turn a heck no day into a heck yes one. But our thoughts have power. And like attracts like. So if you don’t prepare for the bad moments, you’ll never defeat them. And come on, if we pack diaper bags the size of Texas in preparation for a possible armageddon, why not pack some tools for our own personal mini armageddons as well?

“ ‘There are always flowers for those that want to see them.’
~Henri Matisse, Artist

Attitude will make or break our daily journey through motherhood. How do we keep the peaceful, positive, and powerful tone we set for ourselves this morning last all day long? It’s simple. We choose. We decide to see the flowers. And we see them. Happy people attract happiness. Negative people attract sadness. Moody people attract chaos. Distracted people attract disrespect. What do you choose to attract today?”

Korean Beef Bowl Recipe

Korean Beef Bowl Recipe

Make these yummy, sweet, and savory Korean Beef Bowls for dinner this week – you will not be disappointed! And neither will your family. My kids love this dish (even the broccoli! Well, most of the time!).

Korean Beef Bowl Recipe – serves 4

1 lb ground beef
2 bunches broccoli
garlic powder
ground ginger
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup brown sugar
crushed red pepper flakes
green onions (optional)
cooked brown rice

1.) Break broccoli into bite-sized florets with a knife. Sauté in pan with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and ground ginger.

2.) While broccoli is cooking, make rice. I bring 1 cup of brown rice and 2 cups of water to a boil, then reduce to a simmer until rice is cooked. Season with salt.

3.) When broccoli is still crunchy, shove it to the sides of pan. Add a bit more olive oil and the ground beef. Season beef with some salt. Cook beef all the way through.

4.) While beef is cooking, make sauce. Mix together: 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/4 cup soy sauce, crushed red pepper flakes to taste, 1/4 tsp ground ginger, 2 tsp olive oil. Once beef is cooked through, pour sauce of beef and broccoli and stir.

5.) Serve over rice. Add green onions if desired.

YUM! xo, Kate

Skinny Margarita Recipe

May 1, 2018

As summertime approaches, we all start being a little more mindful of what we eat and drink. We take in more fruits and veggies and less comfort foods and cookies. That is why this Skinny Margarita is seriously amazing, it is full of all natural, healthy ingredients (well outside of the Tequila!) and tastes fantastic.

It’s also perfect for upcoming Cinco De Mayo festivities! Yummmmm

skinny margarita recipe

Skinny Margarita
(recipe adapted from

-Kosher Salt
-2 Ounces (1/4 cup) of Silver Tequila-I used Hornitas 100% Agave
– 3 Tablespoons (about 1 1/2 limes) Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
– 2 or 3 Tablespoons Freshly Squeezed Orange Juice
(about a half of a medium Orange or a quarter of a large Orange)
– 1 teaspoon of light Agave Nectar
– Lime round or wedge for garnish

Start by prepping your margarita glasses. Pour a generous amount of salt on a small plate.  Take a small slice of lime and run around the rim of the glass.  Run the edge of your glass in a circle around the plate at an angle to get desired amount of salt.  Fill your glass with ice.

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add all the ingredients above. Shake, shake, shake your cocktail shaker for about 20 seconds or so and then pour your tasty skinny margarita into your salt rimmed glass.

Enjoy, mama!

Cinco De Mayo Sombrero Craft For Kids

April 30, 2018

It’s almost Cinco De Mayo, so obviously it’s time to do a kid craft!

We all remember this fun holiday well…pre kids.

Margaritas and tacos for lunch at your favorite local cantina followed by some Coronas on a patio with all your best pals. Not a care in the world, and if you had a few too many it was alllllll good because you could nurse your hangover in bed, or on the couch, or maybe even with the hair of the dog at brunch the next morning 😉

Because…no kids. LOL

Cinco De Mayo Kid Craft

I realized that I haven’t really celebrated this day since my sweet little babes came along, so this year I wanted to them to get in on the fun as well…a different kind of fun perhaps, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

Wait, who am I kidding…I could still go for the old kind of fun too.

Anyway, I ran into Michaels after school drop off this week and grabbed a few supplies to create these fun Sombreros to hang up while we have our little fiesta on Cinco De Mayo! No party is complete without decor, right? Depending on what time you start your crafting and if you need a little liquid courage to craft (there is glitter involved), you could definitely grab a Corona or a Marg (see our skinny Margarita Recipe here!). It might get your creative juices flowing! Just saying.

(See craft instructions below!)

Cinco De Mayo Kid Craft

Gather up all your decorating supplies:

1.) Construction paper, poster board, or foam paper will all work to cut out your Sombrero

2.) Scissors
3.) Mini pom-poms, tissue paper, stickers, glitter (if you dare), pipe cleaners, sequins, beads.
4.) Glue stick – because who has time to use actual glue that gets everywhere and takes a year to dry.

Cinco De Mayo Kid Craft

1.) Cut out your Sombrero. If your kiddo is good with the scissors you can draw the pattern and let them cut it out 🙂
2.) Decorate!

The Everymom: Why You Need To Let Go of Mom Guilt, Right Now

April 16, 2018

(See original post on The Everymom!)

I know it’s not time to think about this.

But it’s time to think about this.

18 years seems like for-freaking-ever, but trust me, it’s not. The days seem endless now; all diapers, and dishes, and dry shampoo (bless you, dry shampoo). But trust me, this phase—like that phase where your baby used to eat veggies?—will be over soon. Think about it, pregnancy feels like it will never end, but then suddenly those little ones are in our arms, and they’ve taken over our boobs, er, I mean lives. Right now the seconds feel like years, but the secret they don’t tell you? The years feel like seconds. We blink and our babies have become toddlers, our toddlers have become tweeters, and our tweeters will someday do their own laundry, please God.

So it’s time. It’s time to let go of mom guilt once and for all, because we don’t have the time to waste.

What are you feeling guilty about right now? Is it not being there at bedtime, or feeling like an absent mom because you chose to go to yoga, or take that course on starting your own business? Do you feel guilty because you are too tired to find the energy to reconnect with your husband? Or because you want to spend the money to go on that bucket list girl trip? Whatever “it” is, mom guilt stems from desiring to take time for yourself and choosing something other than your children. And thinking that you are a terrible mom if you do so. But in reality, the quality of time way outweighs the quantity of time you spend with your kids, especially if you’re feeling drained, stressed, or anxious.

Say this out loud right now (or fine, say it inside your head because it’s probably nap time): Letting go of mom guilt and taking time for myself will make me a better mom. Repeat: Letting go of mom guilt and taking time for myself will make me a better mom.

Kids do what we do, not what we say, and our children are watching us from the very first moment. I want them to see a passionate and inspired mama. I want them to see a woman who remembers where she came from and knows where she is going. I want them to see a mom who isn’t afraid to dream or fail or get back up again. One who goes after life with the courage of a lion.

We are our child’s first role model. Their life-long teacher. If we don’t show them how to try new things, to be authentic, to practice self-love, and choose joy every time—who will?

And if that’s not reason enough to give up the mom guilt and do a couple down dogs right now, here’s one more. Your beautiful kids will grow up and leave one day. And you’ll still be you. It will be as if you’ve been dropped into a brand new life (kinda like having a baby), and you’ll be starting all over again. And while that might sound like true bliss right now, it’s gonna be scary AF when it actually happens!

Or not.

What if…what if you take the time now to build on the you in the future? We don’t have to put our lives on hold until our children are all grown up. We don’t have to let mom guilt get in the way of being authentic and creative and—dare I say?—the tiniest bit self-centered right now. Giving up the guilt is good for your kids, it’s good for your marriage, it’s good for you.

Figure out what makes you happy, outside of your children, and do that every day. Even if it’s just for a few moments in the morning: journal, paint, sculpt, take pictures, hike, meditate, make jewelry, decorate your home, read that self-help book, grab that cappuccino with a friend–just do it. And all of those moments you give yourself will start to paint a bigger picture. All your dreams and goals for your family, for your future, for yourself will begin to make themselves known.

“The flower doesn’t dream of the bee. It blossoms and the bee comes.”
~Marc Nepo, Poet and Philosopher

Let go of the guilt and blossom first. And just watch what new adventures and happiness you will attract into your life.

‘I would like to be known as an intelligent woman, a courageous woman, a loving woman. A woman who teaches by being.’
~Maya Angelou

Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. A woman who teaches by being. We must live with courage, love, and intelligence every single day. We must stay authentic in our journey through motherhood, so we can encourage those around us to find their own true selves.”

Our Easter Tablescape

March 26, 2018

Our Easter Tablescape

Welcome to our Easter tablescape!

For some reason, the Easter holiday always sneaks up on me.  Thanksgiving, Christmas – we have major build up for those guys.  But all of a sudden, spring has sprung, and Easter is here. So simple is better (these days, that’s true for pretty much everything in my life!) I actually had most of the items for this table – I just rummaged around all of my “hiding spots”….ahem, please don’t tell my husband how many hiding spots I actually have 🙂

This year we incorporated:

Simple White Lenox Tin Can Alley Dinnerware

Gold flatware from West Elm

Anthropologie Horta Champagne glasses

Fantesca Chardonnay!

Pewter Braided Placemats from Amazon

Couleur Nature Batik Bird Printed Napkins from Sur La Table – these would be beautiful too!

Our Easter Tablescape

This is a fun DIY project to do with your kids! I mean, they incorporate glitter, sooooooo what’s not to love?

DIY Glitter Filled Easter Eggs
Glitter – (we used this Glitter Pack)
Clear Easter eggs from Michaels ($.99 each!)
Quickie Glue pen

1.) Take off top of clear egg and fill up with glitter about 1/4 full.

2.)  Pop top back on egg.

3.) Using a glue ballpoint pen, write down names for place cards on a thin strip of white paper.

4.) Sprinkle glitter over glue.

5.) Brush off glitter (funnel back into tube to re-use).

6.) Roll both ends of paper for a fancier look.

Each place setting has a slightly different look…

Kara: old wine corks add a festive feel

Kate: dried lavender from the garden

Kacey: small white stones and mini purple carnations

Sorella: A beautiful pink flower

You could also scoop up a whole bunch of these eggs, fill them with coordinating glitter and hang them  together all at random lengths with flowers behind it as a spring wreath.  Or even hang them at various heights from your chandelier over your Easter table.

Our Easter Tablescape

Happy Easter everyone – don’t forget to light some candles, put some flowers in a vase, and use whatcha got!  Get creative, but keep it simple is my mantra. And now you’re ready for the food – who is making these this weekend?

How To Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day With Kids

March 13, 2018

How To Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day With Kids

Behold! Our easy “How To Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day With Kids” guide. Remember when St. Patrick’s Day used to only be centered around where to find green beer and how not to have a green mouth by the end of the night?

Not anymore, mama, not anymore. I mean, you can still drink a green beer, but you can also make this fun holiday about your kids, too! Aren’t holidays so much better with them around? I mean, sure. Now they are super busy, and you have to craft 4,000 things for school, and God forbid you don’t have the right color clothing! But if we take out all of the pressure and just absorb the FUN and magic these little holiday’s bring to our kids? So much better!

Here’s what we are doing with our kids for St. Patrick’s Day this year:

Step 1: Make a Leprechaun Trap with your child

We decided to try and catch a leprechaun this year so that we can find his Pot O’ Gold. So clearly we needed to make a Leprechaun Trap. There is no right or wrong way to make a Leprechaun Trap. (Guys, I had to google how to spell Leprechaun while making this.) You simply find a small box and let your kid go wild decorating it with green paper, stickers, markers, paint, glitter at your own risk, whatever!

Step 2: Head To The Dollar Store For Some St. Patrick’s Day Treats

This part you have to do solo so you can surprise your kids on St. Patty’s Day. I picked up that green slinky, shamrock necklace, paper plate and cup, and bunny (What does a bunny have to do with St. Patricks Day, you ask? Honestly, she had a fit when she saw it and couldn’t have it the other day, so I decided the Leprechaun would give it to her) at the Dollar Store down the street and spent a whopping $5. The green shamrock balloon is from Vons.

Step 3: Raid Your Kitchen For More Goodies

Now you just go on a treasure hunt of your pantry for green items. I had those green lollipops, green wrapped granola bar, and fruit snacks in our cupboard.

Step 4: Set Up Your Trap

On St. Patrick’s Day Eve, you set out your trap. Add a few chocolate gold coins to try and lure the leprechaun in! Then, after the kids go to bed, put out all the rest of the surprise treats—all of stuff you got at the dollar store. This is what the leprechaun will “leave” them when they escape from the trap. And maybe make green pancakes to go on the green plate!

Now for the really cute part. Of course, Sloane will be wondering if her trap worked right!? Did she actually catch her Leprechaun!? Well…..let’s see what happens when we open the trap!

She is going to LOVE the little note her Leprechaun leaves her (and all the treats he leaves behind). She still carries around the note that Santa Claus left her last Christmas. So it’s all fun and games—nobody is trapping any small and kinda creepy elf. And said elf is leaving your kid a few fun St. Patrick’s Day goodies!

These memories are the ones that stick with our kids. The projects we do together, the whimsy we sprinkle on any random holiday. It’s worth it, mama. It makes everything so much more magical.

Tag your leprechaun trap picture on Instagram with @thedailysoulsessions – I want to see them!

Top O’ The Mornin’ To Ya,
