DIY Speakeasy Costume Feather Headpiece

This DIY Speakeasy Costume Feather Headpiece is the perfect addition to a flapper girl costume or a Great Gatsby theme party this Halloween. You should definitely make this easy DIY Speakeasy Costume Feather Headpiece because it’s a showstopper! As I’m sure you’re aware of, Halloween is just around the corner. It’s time to finish up your costume and your toddler’s costume and your teenager’s costume and your husband’s costume! I made this DIY Speakeasy Costume Feather Headpiece for a Great Gatsby themed wedding photo shoot a few years ago, and it seriously never goes out of style for these types of holidays. Plus saving a little bit of money by making your own hairpiece is always a win win, right?

DIY Speakeasy Costume Feather Headpiece
for a Speakeasy or Flapper Girl Halloween Costume
4-5 Peacock Feathers (mine are from Hobby Lobby)
1 plastic haircomb
scissors
hot glue and gun
brooch
bobby pins

1.) Cut the stem of each feather about 1.5″ below the main bloom with scissors.

2.) Then arrange the cut feathers on the hair comb.

3.) Next, glue the stem of the feather to the top of the comb.

4.) Allow the glue to dry, and then weave the comb into your hair.

5.) Using bobby pins, pin the brooch to the top of the hair comb and your hair to secure in place!

If you pin the brooch to the comb and your hair, as opposed to glueing the brooch to the comb, you will have the ability to easily change out the brooch at any time! This is a really fun DIY project you can do with your older kids. And the hairpiece goes with so many different costumes.
