Happiness and Magic. They go hand in hand this time of year. Although we all know how easy it is to lose sight of that in the madness that is called THE WEEK BEFORE CHRISTMAS. Today I had to run to the post office to drop off Christmas gifts for my family in Colorado. Needless to say, I didn’t even make it in the door because I couldn’t even make it into the parking lot! It was so so so so so so crowded.

So we pulled a “U-ey” and tried our luck at UPS. Still a line, though not quite as bad (things are looking up!)…but I was still feeling super anxious, and stressed, and nippy. As I was scrolling through my phone trying to pass the time and not let my daughter see me standing behind her stroller (Does that ever happen to you? Sloane will be just fine chilling in her stroller UNTIL she catches one glimpse of me), I came across this little gem:

“I prefer the company of happy people who are believers in magic…
…and of magical people who are believers in happy.”

And my entire day turned around.

Just. Like. That.

I want to be that person – I want to know these people. I want to surround my daughter and my family and friends with that kind of energy.

So I will.

There is so much chaos going on right now…from world events, to politics, to plain old holiday madness, my brain is spinning.

I cuddled up in bed this morning, before the sun began to gild the trees around my house, before my daughter began to chat innocently with her loveys, before my husband stirred and rose to start another day…and I just breathed. In and out. Steady, slowly. Long inhale, longer exhale. Calming the internal anxiety I’ve been feeling over everything that is whirling around outside of my home today.

There’s so much that we want to see changed. But what on earth and in all of heaven can we possibly do about it? And it hit me, the simple words Ghandi said….

Be The Change You Wish To See In The World.

Ok. I can do that. I can be kind. I can be loving. I can be welcoming. I can be generous. I can be strong. I can be open…as we know, the best way to bring about change is to exude the qualities that make others want to emulate you. So that when they say, “she seems so happy, so full of joy” – they follow it up with, “I want to feel that too.” And then more and more people change….and are Loving. Welcoming. Generous. Strong. Open…
