“There will be something solid for you to stand upon, or you will be taught how to fly.”
Both great options, positive and full of light. Have faith, little Mama, your future is both solid and soaring!
My sister gets a box of fruits and veggies once a week on her doorstep. Lucky me gets to capitalize on that every now and then! This week she had an excess of grapefruits, so a couple came home with me the other day. I give you this yummy grapefruit smoothie!
4 oz water
1 grapefruit – peeled and deseeded
1 banana (frozen)
10 strawberries (frozen)
2 cups spinach
Blend and Drink!
Pregnancy, life, finding a parking space at the market, heck even making the time to shave your legs can be considered a “difficult situation” some days. But every time I can smile and not let the angry driver who cut me off – and then gave me the finger – ruin an hour of my day is one whole hour happier for me. My husband teases me about how non-competitive I am when it comes to certain things in life. But really? I like to win just as much as the next gal. I may not be as vocal about it, but #winning exists on so many levels…
And let’s face it – who doesn’t want to win today?
These are delicious and so easy to whip up – especially when you’re craving a salty snack. And did I mention how healthy they are?! As you’re trying to make good nutrition choices during your pregnancy, rest assured in this guilt free snack! Even puppies love them 🙂
Pre-heat oven to 350. Wash and pat dry a bunch of kale (flat works well). Cut out large rib center – it’s too tough to bite through
Lay kale flat on greased cookie sheet
Drizzle with Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Sprinkle with Sea Salt
Bake for 10 minutes
Sprinkle on grated Parmesan Cheese
Bake for another 5 minutes
Enjoy your yummy and healthy snack! And don’t forget to lick your fingers.
Happy 4th of July Mamas! This photo is from last year – when all of our babes were tiny, but showing their Merica pride!
Cheers to life, liberty, the pursuit of happines, and a world where we all are created equal 🙂
I just finished reading Cheryl Strayed’s Wild this morning. I’m sure you’ve heard all about it, with Reese Witherspoon playing the lead part in the movie. The book is really good….I wanted to read it before I see the film. That’s next up on Netflix 🙂
This quote hit me in the gut: “Alone had always felt like an actual place to me, as if it weren’t a state of being, but rather a room where I could retreat to be who I really was.” She makes being alone a not so scary place to be. Her words make alone feel like a sacred spot, a quiet spot, a peaceful refuge where you don’t have to try so hard. Where you are free to think and do and say and feel exactly what you want.
I actually found myself feeling alone quite often during my pregnancy. Not that I didn’t have amazing family and friends who supported me the whole way (I even had my twin sister in the exact same preggo position!), but it really is a personal journey. No one, not even other pregnant women, know exactly what your body is feeling like. No one knows the thoughts that run through your mind each and every waking second (not to mention the crazy dreams!). So try to embrace the “alone-ness” you are feeling right now. Try to see it as that “room where you can retreat to be who you really are.” Embrace the roller coaster, mama! And revel in your miracle working amazingness!
